My name is Tyler Flickinger, also known as TFlick, and I play Fortnite at the highest level possible. Currently I am an incoming sophomore at a small college in Maryland. I have been playing Fortnite for over two years, and have accumulated over $3000 in prize money from their tournaments. Currently I am one of the top ranked players in the country, and a top college prospect in the nation. Not only am I stand out athlete in game, but I also am a stand out student and leader around my community. I graduated high school with a 4.2 GPA with highest honors, and leading organizations such as the National Honors Society, and Student Government. I played soccer, and ran both indoor and outdoor track. I was the captain of the varsity soccer team for my junior and senior years. I was also a member of the International Baccalaureate program. I have been a leader in my various communities for as long as I can remember and that is prevalent in my gaming. I was the in game leader for my squad, duo, and trio in the Fortnite Champion Series tournaments. As the leader I led my teams to huge success versus very tough competition in these tournaments.

I want to talk about the possibility of attending this amazing school and playing for your esports team. It is important to note that the Fortnite competitive scene is composed of players ranging from the age of 14 and up. The majority of players ranked above or near me are either professional players who do not attend school, or high schoolers who aren’t yet going to college. This makes me one of the best players not only in the nation, but especially at the college level. Recently Fortnites creators at Epic Games partnered with PlayVS to host collegiate tournaments. Their first season was this past spring 2020 season in which over 100 schools competed. There was thousands of dollars on the line. The next fall 2020 season is going to be even bigger and better, and it is essential to get a Fortnite esports roster ready for this season. I know that I have what it takes to prosper in these collegiate Fortnite tournaments and put this school on the map for esports.

Fortnite and esports is bigger than just a game. I plan on taking my knowledge of the game and combining it with my charisma to bring a unforgettable experience to this school. I want to create Fortnite camps during the off seasons where we can teach the bright young minds of the world on subjects such as game sense and in game mechanics. I want to partner with twitch and the university to broadcast our events to a larger community. Finally I want to create a family here at this school and implement a long lasting culture for this team. A recent article published by Forbes was titled “Esports is the new College Football”. We have an amazing opportunity in front of us. I look forward to making the most of it with you!
