I started playing dota 2 at 2015, where all of my friends played it, i purposely bought a budget pc so i can play with them.
At first, i dont understand the game, i straight start off playing ranked and get calibrated in 1400 mmr.
I started to learn when i play with my friends, even though it was bot game, i tried to understand the game.
Slowly I gain ~1000 mmr each year.
I watch tournament, as caster explain what they're sometimes, especially from purge, and try to understand what are the pros are doing.
Im currently in 3700 mmr, and im on the climb.
