TEAM DIGNITAS (EU)
Turbopulsa*- Turbo by far was the strongest player in this best of 7 match. Shooting 5/9 from the field absolutely insane shooting percentage, but he was the only one who “changed” it up from Dignitas in this series. The tap down shot/tap down passes to give a different look. He made a few amazing saves to help out the 3rd man in net but jumping in front last second. He was the only one making soft touches to play some “stall ball” as I like to call it. Giving his team time to recover and get boost as well.
Yukeo- strong game from him in the net besides the game 6 back flip causing overtime and eventually the loss. A couple missed opportunities and touches in the games. A couple of times in the series, he was sitting completely still, which lead to some opportunities for G2. Momentum is everything especially at this level, one millisecond will change a goal into a save. He shot 2/19 from the field, which hurts.
Violent Panda- Of course strong game play across the board at this level of competition, but way too many double commits. Too much panic as well in high pressure situations. You have to trust your teammates and I know he was on transfer so he was a new addition to Dignitas. So, this could be why he didn’t have that same flow with Turbo and VPanda. He shot 4/18 from the field, which still can’t happen at this level.
G2 Sports (NA)
Chicago- Having one person with a square hit box like a dominos(before fennec released) is always a nice addition to square out the team. I know in the future Turbo uses the fennec, which was a nice change up for him. He took his time when the team needed to recover when he had possession. Very aware and smart game play from Chicago in this series)
Jknaps*- overall sound play from Jknapps when it came to rotations, scoring and saves. He finished the opportunities that came his way, which is a must to win a series at this level. He made great passes, back passes, change his looks up and spread the field out similar to Turbo. But the accuracy was what made the difference.
Rizzo- Not the most sound game play at times, but Rizzo changed the game up. He would get demos or fake more than any other play in this series. But he played his role with Chicago and Jknaps, which was enough to get the Win this round, but not the next against NRG.
Alright, enough of the individuality, why didn’t Dignitas take this one home?! Here’s what I saw:
I saw a lot of boost being wasted across the board, minimal speed flips to conserve their boost. Couple slight rotation issues and second guesses from violent panda. This led to boost being left on the ground for teammates, who weren’t going to grab it.
Later in the series, the boost-wasting was cleaned up with more speed flips, but unfortunately, double commits plagued this series with panic. Back to boost, overall reliance on big boost in the corners made the rotations somewhat predictable and took the pressure off G2 at times. I would’ve liked to see more boost pods taken and not an automatic back corner rotation at the times of offensive pressure when G2 was boost starved. Can’t have boost solely dictate your rotations. Final boost related issue, there were a few 50’s early on that were not a threat, and Vpanda had no right to waste 60 boost for. He had no chance to get it and way too far away, so a “courtesy contest” would’ve been more advantageous. Waste 30 boost and get back down instead of all your boost and then you’re across the map and have to recover.
Rotation-wise, is was pretty rough at times. There wasn’t much spacing going on and even at one point all 3 players were at the back wall together. This just makes the next hit predictable, but also getting back into normal rotations pretty difficult unless you clear it or you have a long possession by one player who has to have enough boost to do so.
Last but not least, pizazz, bumps, and fakes. I know this was before bump meta at the time, but this would’ve put more pressure on G2. This would’ve also taken some pressure off of Dignitas in lull of the match when it seemed to be a back and forth possession game or the reliance of boost to make the 50’s.
A square car would’ve been a nice addition as well to change up the looks, just like when Chicago chipped it over Vpanda without even jumping, which led to a goal.
The regional difference I am aware of, which was clear in this competition as well was the fall open that just passed. North American teams are more choppy. They go for bumps, little chips and settles. A lot less smooth than the European Teams. European Teams are basically, “next man up”. It’s a very systematic methodical game of the 1-man then 2 and 3. Turbo tried to break this up at times, but unfortunately, his teammates weren’t ready for the pass or different look, or worse panic double commits.
Last but not least, little curveball or “heatseeker” as they say, I saw minimal communication coming from Team Dignitas. I saw facial expressions, but never saw verbal communication all series.
G2 won this series because they created more opportunities and misses, via bumps, rotations, fakes, and the biggest one, finishing the opportunities they made/had. At times, this was done without boost as well. They put pressure on Dignitas more, which led to boost reliance to overcompensate or bad rotations due to the pressure. I also attribute the new transfer of Vpanda to the uneasy game play at times where little side passes in the corner were overlooked.
I would love the opportunity to work with Team Dignitas and break down more footage. I am open to analyzing more videos free of cost for a “trial” period, so that I can show off my abilities and what I can bring to the team. It’s the little things that make the biggest difference in these competitions. I figured, although this is somewhat in-depth, you didn’t want a time stamp by time stamp breakdown, but more to see my understanding of the game. If you would like a video as well to show off my communication skills, I would love to. That is by far my strongest suit. There’s a reason why, I have always been in sales and a manager. Thank you for your time and for reading this. Although my resume doesn’t exactly show off rocket league, it does show how I am a hard working, adaptive, and magnetic.
Here is a quick analysis I did for Dignitas for the 2019 WSOE 4 quart finals Vs g2. I figured I would prefer to show my understanding of the game mechanics on all levels. Currently c3 across the board but will hit GC end of season with my increased dedication of time. I’m not a young kid or anything. I’m 31 and looking to work doing what I love most.. ROCKZZZ. I have a magnetic personality and always been a strongest leader adapting to moments and personalities. I have managed stores with staff of 10+ people, but I want to love what I do and have fun. Work is all about what you make of it, but also your coach is the one who can make it fun and elevate your gameplay. How to groom emotions on the highest level. I would love to be a coach or game play analyst for the team and I will put my breakdown below. You won’t need to watch the games, but more so see my understanding of the game at the highest pro level. It will be in the “ambitions” portion because I think I made my intentions known. Lol.
